This five-star coconut & squash dhansak is an easy vegetarian curry, perfect for a weeknight meal. It's full of warming spices and sure to take the edge off a cold winter night. Cook butternut squash in the microwave to save time, then combine with a thick curry sauce. Top with a generous dollop of coconut yogurt and serve with warm naan bread.

2) Prawn fried rice
Full of Asian-inspired flavours, this prawn fried rice is a super filling option for a midweek dinner. Simply fry onions, garlic and ginger in a non-stick frying pan or wok, then combine with blanched vegetables, prawns and brown rice. Stir in beaten eggs to scramble them, then fold in sesame seeds, soy sauce and vinegar.

3) Sausage, kale & gnocchi one-pot
This sausage, kale & gnocchi one-pot is full of winter flavours, perfect for a comforting supper. Remove pork sausages from their skins and fry until crisp around the edges. Add gnocchi, chicken stock and chopped kale, and cook until the gnocchi is tender and the kale has wilted.

4) Microwave chilli
Chilli couldn't be easier with this super speedy microwave chilli. It's vegetarian and takes just 15 minutes to make. Combine chopped tomatoes, kidney beans, onion, garlic and a touch of dark chocolate for added richness. Try adding chopped chorizo or salami at the beginning of cooking, if you wish.

5) Simple sirloin steak
What could be quicker than a steak dinner? Our tender, simple sirloin steak is the perfect recipe for beginners. Pan-fry in sunflower oil, butter, garlic and herbs, turning the steaks every minute to ensure an even crust. Try using a meat thermometer to make sure it's cooked to your liking.

6) Speedy sausage stroganoff tagliatelle
Our speedy sausage stroganoff tagliatelle is a quick, budget-friendly meal that's sure to fill up the whole family. Fry pork sausagemeat for five minutes until golden brown, then add sliced chestnut mushrooms and cook for another five minutes. Stir in beef stock, soured cream, wholegrain mustard and spices. Toss with cooked tagliatelle and top with chopped parsley.

7) Saag paneer kedgeree
Mash up two Indian-inspired classics with this saag paneer kedgeree. Caramelise onions and fry the paneer until evenly browned. Add curry powder, frozen spinach and ready made rice and cook everything is piping hot. Top with boiled eggs and scatter with red chilli.

8) Vegan ramen
Nothing is more comforting than a warming bowl of vegan ramen. Dried shiitake mushrooms and white miso paste provide plenty of savoury flavour. It's super filling with rice noodles, tofu, pak choi, carrots and beansprouts. Top with sesame oil, sriracha, chopped coriander, crushed peanuts, crumbled sheets of nori or dried chilli threads.

9) Harissa-crumbed fish with lentils & peppers
Our harissa-crumbed fish with lentils & peppers makes for a great low-calorie, one-pan dinner. Mix lentils, peppers, olives, lemon zest in a roasting pan. Top with cod fillets and cover with harissa breadcrumbs. Bake for 15 minutes and top with chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice.

10) Polenta with chorizo & poached eggs
This polenta with chorizo & poached eggs is a filling, quick midweek meal for busy nights. Make it vegetarian by swapping chorizo for meat-free sausages or mince, and use vegetarian cheese. Pan-fry the chorizo, cook the polenta, then combine with parmesan, oil, parsley and some seasoning. Top with a poached egg and sliced chard.
