Ingredients

  • 250g block halloumi cheese
  • 10 rashers pancetta or smoked streaky bacon
  • 1 tbsp chopped chives

Method

  1. Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Cut the halloumi into 20 sticks. stretch each rasher of pancetta with the back of a knife, then cut in half. season the pancetta with just black pepper, then sprinkle with the chopped chives.

  2. Roll the pancetta around the halloumi in a spiral and arrange on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 mins or until the pancetta is brown and beginning to crisp.

I would check where you got the cheese from, halloumi should have a firm rubbery texture and is not at all crumbly. That sounds more like feta.

I replaced the chives with diced chorizo & wrapped in smoked streaky bacon....... Omg, the best :-)

These are so yummy, I made them when we had some friends round for dinner and they went down so well my husband went out the following day and bought all the ingredients so that I could make him some more.

I've made these a couple of times over the Christmas period. The second time I placed the sliced Halloumi inside an open cup mushroom and wrapped the whole thing in a bacon parcel. A Hit !

fantastic !!! so easy to make. served them as finger food to parents at my childs party, never saw food dissappear so fast. A must for any gathering with nibbles. More like this please.

I have preparred these with other canapes for our housewarming party and everyone loved them! Really tasty and so easy to make... they go really well with some undressed salad leaves like lettuce as they are full of flavour and quite salty.
