  • 350g plain flour
  • 1 egg
  • 300 ml milk
  • 2 tbls caster suger
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 2 tbls of golden syrup
  • good pinch of salt
  • good handful of sultanas (optional)
  • oil to cook

    Method

    • step 1

      add all dry ingredients together in a large bowl
    • step 2

      add the milk egg and golden syrup then whisk for 2 mins
    • step 3

      add and gently fold in the sultanas (optional) and leave to stand for 10 mins
    • step 4

      when mixture has increased in size use large dessert spoon as a measure.. cook on a skillet or shallow frying pan for aprox 1-2 mins each side
