  • 4 standard Mars Bars, chopped into pieces
  • 50ml milk

One of the most widely used ingredients, milk is often referred to as a complete food. While cow…

  • 4 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 3 large egg whites
  • chocolate shavings, to decorate

Chocolate as we know it in pressed

  1. Put the Mars bars, milk and cocoa in a heavy-based saucepan. Cook over a very gentle heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate has melted. Transfer to a bowl and leave to cool for 15 minutes, whisking frequently with a wire whisk to blend in any pieces of fudge that rise to the surface, to leave a smooth mixture.

  2. Whisk the egg whites in a separate bowl until softly peaking. Using a metal spoon, fold a quarter of the whites into the chocolate sauce to lighten it, then fold in the remainder.

  3. Turn the mixture into six small cups, glasses or ramekins and chill in the fridge to set, for at least 2 hours, before serving. Serve topped with chocolate shavings.

I've tried this twice and followed the recipe down to a T, the consistency has both times been gooey. I believe adding more egg white would resolve this, but this is not what the recipe says. Going to try another recipe as the mars side of things just makes the mixture very heavy...

Really easy to make. I whisked some double cream with a teaspoon of vanilla sugar to add to the top and dilute the chocolate a bit (makes it amazing!). Highly recommend!

I made this last night, I'm new to making puddings so wanted to start with something really simple...Well this came out so good I could hardly believe I made it myself!, I did forget to put in the coco powder at the right time and had to add it just before I added the egg whites! however it still came out really well and has left me feeling good, it is quite sweet but I'm serving it in very small portions with shortbread so I think it should be ok, it's now all chilled and ready for my dinner party tonight...

I halved the ingredients as I was making it for a romantic valentines meal for 2 and there was plenty for 2 ramekins (heartshaped of course!) and a bit left over which was just bunged in a bowl! It was my first attempt at making mousse and I was surprised how easy and tasty it was. Yes it IS very rich and sickly but also very yummy. Will definitely make again.

Really nice and really simple. Made it with no fuss. Little washing up and was made before dinner and scoffed afterwards. A perfect recipe.

I was making this for 8 people so increased the Mars Bars and egg but kept the cocoa to the 4 tablespoons. The Mars Bars were 51 g each. Delicious! A real hit with everyone.

Easy to make, but very sticky when putting into ramikins. kids loved it. But very very rich, trust me you don't need lots. could be a fantastic desert at a dinner party.

Have made this a few times and it comes out heavy and gooey. Try adding an extra egg white. Also it makes 4 very tiny cups of mousse. Would never serve 6.
