Easy warming cottage pie for a cold evening

  • 4 Potatoes
  • 500g Mince
  • 1 Large Carrot
  • 1 White Onion
  • Table Spoon Tomato Puree
  • Healthy Splash Red Wine (approx small glass measure)
  • Thyme
  • 1 Tine Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 close garlic
  • 300ml beef stock


  1. Preheat oven to 200/Gas 6

  2. Dice onion and carrots

  3. Brown mince and cook carrots and onions together

  4. Add the chopped tomatoes, puree, wine, garlic, beef stock and thyme, simmer for 30 mins stirring occasionally

  5. Whilst that is cooking, boil the potatoes. Then mash (butter and milk optional)

  6. Add mince etc into a dish, spread mash evenly across the top

  7. Cook for approx 30 mins until slightly potato is slightly crispy
