Probably the most widely-used oil in cooking, olive oil is pressed from fresh olives. It's…

Onions are endlessly versatile and an essential ingredient in countless recipes. Native to Asia…

  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 400g can chopped tomatoes
  • 300g short pasta such as fusilli or farfalle (just over half a 500g bag)

Pasta is the Italian name for Italy's version of a basic foodstuff which is made in many…

  1. Put a large pan of water on to boil.

  2. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large frying pan and fry chunky pieces of 8 pork sausages on a fairly high heat until they are golden brown all over.

  3. Now turn the heat down and add 1 large chopped onion and 2 crushed garlic cloves, cooking them until they have softened.

  4. Stir in 1 tsp chilli powder and 400g chopped tomatoes with the sausages, bring the sauce to the boil then turn the heat down and let it bubble for about 10 minutes while you cook the pasta.

  5. Drop 300g pasta into the pan of boiling water and cook according to the pack instructions.

  6. Drain the pasta, then tip it into the frying pan with the sausage sauce, mixing well to coat. Dish up immediately with crusty bread.

Kids loved it! Used red onion, penne pasta, easy on the chilli, and some frozen spinach. Asked to have it tomorrow too!

After noting the comments, I tweeted the recipe and added more chilli, cream cheese, mixed herbs, tomato sauce, sugar, peas to add bit of colour. It was a hit! Nice and spicy. Will definitely make again. Cheap to make.

Not great. Missing something. I think some cream added to the sauce would make it nicer. I would also add a teaspoon of sugar to counteract the chili. I would also opt for chorizo sausage which would also reduce the cooking time. Hope this helps

This is so simple - and utterly, utterly delicious. I'm just sorry that I had to share the whole pan with the rest of the family as I genuinely think I could have eaten the entire meal in one sitting! Can't recommend enough and will be making this as often as the rest of the family will allow. Add some green veggies on the side and away you go.

This is such a cheap and easy meal. I was surprised at how tasty it was! Definitely a great weeknight dish when you're short of time but still want something hearty.

Fab easy recipe! I made a few tweeks (added mushrooms and more chilli powder, used penne pasta) and reduced the sauce from the tomatos right down so its a sticky sauce smothering all the lovely pasta! Id suggest adding salt and pepper during the cooking too as can taste like its missing something ... Very impressed overall!

Had no idea what to cook tonight and found this recipe. It was perfect, quick and easy to make, tasted great and most importantly met with approval from my teenage son. Will definitely make this one again.

Was expecting to find this a bit dull but had sausages to use up and needed something that would please whole family. It was delicious! My tweaks - added some Parma ham (needed using up), at the end is stirred in some cream cheese, then served up the kids portions, before adding some spinach and a bit of chilli powder to ours. Really lovely and everyone wants it again next week :)
