  • 4 unwaxed lemons, each cut into 8

  • 175g golden caster sugar
  • large handful of ice cubes, plus extra for serving


  1. Blitz the lemons in a food processor or blender with half of the sugar, some ice cubes and 500ml/18fl oz water. Strain the juice into a jug and reserve.

  2. Tip the lemon pulp back into the food processor. Add the rest of the sugar, more ice cubes and 500ml/18fl oz water and blitz again. Strain this into the jug with the reserved juice (discard the pulp). Serve with lots of ice.

Gorgeous but I had to add 500ml more water and made a sugar syrup (1cup sugar + 1cup water) to add to it. Very quick and easy though, love it!!

We have a lemon tree that has gone a bit mad this year so this was a great way of using up my lemons! the kids thought it was the best thing ever so will definitely double next time. Like the idea of sparkling water as well. we loved it and it was really easy to make .

I've just made this for a competition on Saturday- I added quite a bit more sugar, as I found it VERY bitter at first, but very nice and very quick and simple! The only problem I had was that I bottled it in a glass bottle, and all the pulp that went to the top blocked the neck. I advise straining it several times to get rid of it!!

A simply lovely refreshing drink. Easy to make and far better for you than those complicated recipes that involve boiling and leaving overnight. Ignore the comment that it's too sweet, it isn't.

Lovely. My grandmother used to make this and I haven't made it since she died several years ago. I only had 3 lemons but It still worked fine with a little less sugar. Very easy and delicious!

I added 6 raspberries at the processing stage to make pink lemonade. I also diluted the finished drink 50:50 with sparkling water. Very refreshing and made it go further, too.

Fantastic but good idea to do dbl batch. 1 lot for the kids and the other with a splash of rum for the adults. Delicious. Also tried cold with touch of ginger and ginseng.

This was an easy recipe but it needed far more sugar than stated as it was too bitter!!!!

Do you blitz the skin on the lemon?

Hi, Yes you blitz the whole lemons for this. You could spend longer prepping the lemons and just use the pared rind and flesh and discard the pith if you wanted, lemons do vary as to how much they have. I hope this helps. Lulu

Chop the lemons into small pieces and then use a hand blender, not a food processor, to chop them finely. Making a concentrated version that you can then top up with sparkling water saves room in the fridge and is really refreshing.
