Ingredients

  • 1 litre dry cider
  • 500ml apple juice
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tbsp cardamom pods, crushed open
  • 1 cinnamon stick, plus extra to serve (optional)
  • 1 large orange, zest pared into strips
  • 1 apple, sliced, to serve (optional)

Method

  • STEP 1

    Pour the cider and apple juice into a large saucepan. Add the remaining ingredients, bring to a very low simmer and cook gently for 30 mins. Turn off the heat and leave to infuse for 3 hrs. When ready to serve, warm the mulled cider through for a few minutes before ladling into heatproof glasses with slices of apple and cinnamon sticks, if you like.
