  1. Heat the oil in a large ovenproof pan, add the sausages and brown for few mins. Remove from the pan. Add the leeks and carrot and gently soften for 10 mins.

  2. Mix the breadcrumbs with a little sage. Heat grill to medium. Add 1 tbsp sage and the garlic to the pan. Cook for 1 min, then add the stock and tomatoes. Tuck in the sausages. Simmer for 10 mins until the sauce has reduced a little and the sausages are cooked. Season, stir in the beans, then simmer for 2 mins more. To serve, scatter the sage crumbs over the top and grill for 5 mins until golden.

My son helped to choose this recipe for his tea. He really enjoyed this meal and wants to thank the person who created the recipe. As mentioned above, I also added the Worcs sauce to add some more flavour. A hit in our household.

This was a good dish for a weekday meal, but left a little to be desired when I made it. (see ). Like a lot of commentors, I would have put cheese on it, but I'd run out! Instead I put crème fraîche on it, which was lovely. Definitely one to refine, I think.

I thought this was absolutely scrumptious - used big fat local organic sausages and added a generous splash of Worcester sauce (which pepped it up perfectly) to the mix and only used one can of beans. Also used a little finely grated red Leicester in with breadcrumbs. Proper rib-sticking comfort food!

Loved by my children and husband! I added bacon, butter beans and included cheese in the breadcrumbs. I sliced the sausages into 3 for easy serving. Didn't have sage so I used mixed herbs instead. Made in the morning and set the oven timer to reheated in the oven that evening with some jacket pots.

This was really tasty, but I found the breadcrumb topping disappeared and would just serve without next time.

I made this for 2 hungry people. I used six pork sausage, 1 leek, 1 small carrot, 1 tin of tomatoes and subsituted green lentils for the beans and added a splash of Lancashire sauce. I served it with crusty bread. It was delicious! This will be a regular mid week meal.

We loved this - I was just making it for 2, but used 4 sausages, 1 leek, 2 carrots, 1 tin of beans & 1 tin of tomatoes. I used sainsburys toulouse sausages and cut them in half on the diagonal to make them feel like they were going a bit further. I also added a small amount of cheese to the breadcrumbs and served with lemon & caraway cabbage. Great hearty winter supper.

It was easy to make and quite quick but was a bit bland so maybe add more garlic (I added 2 cloves just for 1 person as I divided the rest of the recipe by 4 and it was still a bit bland) and maybe chilli or some other herb/spice to make it more interesting. Quite filling though, I served it with mashed sweet potato and salad and it was a very big meal.
