Method

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a large, heavy saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over a medium heat, then simmer uncovered, stirring frequently, for 30-40 mins, or until thick and pulpy. Remove from the heat, leave to cool and transfer to sterilised, clean, dry jars and seal.

i used about 6 if i remember they were quite large but that was all i could fit in the pot

Why have I never made chutney before? It's so easy and tastes really delicious. Next time I'll put in more onion and not as many raisins.

I made this chutney for Christmas - it was really simple and made good use of the apples in my garden! Can't wait to try it, it smells great.
