Made this before I read the reviews, but pleasantly surprised, I used muscavado as I didn’t have enough normal sugar, light fluffy and good texture, trick was the hot oven. Also made another batch with coconut, raisins & cinnamon instead of chocolate which were delicious, not overly sweet but I liked that.

Awful recipe! Unfortunately I also made them before I'd read the comments! They're bitter - not sweet at all! Can't even taste any sugar!! Horribly dry and stuck to the insides of the cases! Do not waste your time or money!

They were tasteless. I won't be making these again.

Do not waste your time I’ve a very cross and upset 6 year old thanks to this terrible recipe. They taste like scrambled egg absolutely disgusting. I’ve pictures I wanted to post but no option to. The £2 box mixes work better and that’s saying something.

This recipe is pretty rubbish. The cakes stuck to the cases and tasted very dry and not sweet at all.

Made this before reading comments. They were easy to make however half the cake sticks to the case when attempting to eat it. Tastes nice but can't use for fate like I planned

Turned out awfully, tastes like funny pancakes, it looks more like scones inside. Wouldn't make again or recommend

I never usually leave comments but this time I felt I needed to! I'm not a brilliant baker so I always follow online recipes to ensure I get yummy food, so found this one and followed the recipe. I can't help myself, whenever I make cakes I always eat some of the mix before washing the bowl up, and this time I was a bit like 'oh...' It didn't really taste of anything, kinda tasted of pancake batter or something. It didn't have that yummy sweet taste. I chucked in a bit more sugar and thought, well this is the recipe so I'm sure it'll come out fine. Whilst they were in the oven I read the reviews and started to regret wasting my ingredients, as most people had been saying what I thought. Once they were done I tried one and they aren't tasty. It's kinda like a Yorkshire pudding texture on the outside and heavy on the inside. They aren't descusting but don't make you wanna reach for another one... Guess it's good for not putting on weight then ay! ;) But in all honestly a bit disappointing and won't use this recipe again, should have stuck to what little I already knew!

Made these with the kids, this is thier thoughts.(didn't read the reviews first)..... It was not very nice even the dog had a moody expression..... These muffins were really squishy and dry at the same time , I would of liked them a little more crispy and sweeter they were also VERY bitter I could not even finish one muffin . sounds like a bad day at the bake of !!!!!

I added 40g extra sugar and an extra tsp of vanilla after reading comments. Tasted good to me especially when cooled, they stick to the sides of the paper cases when warm and that's just waste :) also mixture is lumpy looking but this is normal so do not worry or over mix.

It's works fine for me, after I read the bad comments I just added more super and more choc to the recipe and the muffins were great hope this helps

I used twice the amount of butter, 200g of chocolate chips and almond essence instead of vanilla and they were very nice. The don't rise like muffins, but the texture is good

These muffins were delicious. I just added 100g milk choc & 100g white choc & sprinkled tops with sugar.
