  1. Cook the spaghetti in a large pan of boiling salted water according to pack instructions. Meanwhile, make the sauce. Heat the oil in a medium pan and cook the garlic for 1 min. Add the chilli flakes, tomatoes and sardines, breaking up roughly with a wooden spoon. Heat for 2-3 mins, then stir in the olives, capers and most of the parsley. Mix well to combine.

  2. Drain the pasta, reserving a couple of tbsp of the water. Add the pasta to the sauce and mix well, adding the reserved water if the sauce is a little thick. Divide between 4 bowls and sprinkle with the remaining parsley.

I'm not a big pasta fan but loved this recipe. Added more capers and less olives. Used penne instead of spaghetti. The sauce went nicely with it. Super easy. Will definitely make it again

Really loved this recipe...'cos it's storecupboard, delicious, quick, easy to make and healthy too....the whole family enjoyed it. Next time, I will add a few anchovies or a smidge of anchovy paste to richen the flavour.

This was delicious. It is a bit like spaghetti with canned tuna. I'd ran out of capers which was a shame as I know they would have been good in the sauce.

Another great tasting recipe that is quick and easy to knock up on a week night. I will add a bit more chilli next time and I think that anchovies would work well too.

Great storecupboard recipe, even though there was only two of us, I still made the same amount of sauce and added chives instead of parsley as that is all I had!

A cheap, quick and easy meal to make, plenty of flavour. Will only use 1 clove of garlic next time as we found it a bit overpowering and the sauce was a bit watery, will reduce it next time before adding the sardines.

Simple and delicious, enjoyed by our 2 year old too.

One of my all time favourites - usually I make this with anchovies though for a really savoury sauce!!!

Easy quick meal, very meditteranean flavours which goes down well in our house. Good on the budget too!

Ok, but not great. Didn't really work for us, and we both don't mind sardines... Will probably not make again. Will have to try another way of eating sardines! In a creamy potato gratin is the favourite so far (using sardines in oil).
