  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 100g dried cranberries, cherries or blueberries, or a mix


  1. Heat oven to 160C/fan 140C/gas 3. Butter and line the base of a 18 x 25cm tin. Mix the oats, seeds and nuts in a roasting tin, then put in the oven for 5-10 mins to toast.

  2. Meanwhile, warm the butter, honey and sugar in a pan, stirring until butter is melted. Add the oat mix, cinnamon and dried fruit, then mix until all the oats are well coated. Tip into the tin, press down lightly, then bake for 30 mins. Cool in tin, then cut into 12 bars.

Veeeeeerrrrrrry nice! Having it in my pack-up every day plus really easy to make.The granoala is very nice and sticky, I like sticky!But sometimes it is a bit crunchy and hard, but it is brilliant:)

These are lovely! I used a different variety of nuts and seeds but they are still delicious. I only baked mine for 25mins and I'm glad I did because they are nice and chewy :)

Just made these and they are lovely! a little sweet for me and next time I might leave the cinnamon out, I just wish I could see how to save this in my online binder! and can't find no guidelines to help, I have tried 'bookmark and share' but it doesnt seem to work.

I finally made these the other day but after peoples comments about the mixture being crumbly I decided to omit the honey, sugar and butter and instead used a small can of sweetened lite condensed milk. I also used half oats, half rice bubbles - The result was much lower in fat and sugar, chewy, crunchy, sticky and delicious! (They needed to bake a little bit longer and in a slower oven, but it was well worth it!) Would definitely recommend.

I haven't tried to make these yet but notice a few people mention their bars fall apart a little. One reason could be that you aren't packing the mixture densely enough into the tin. I find with all the granola bars I make its better to really squash it in. Either that or it could be to do with the oats you are using. The recipe states 'porridge oats', but if you are using wholegrain rolled oats rather than the oaties type the oats wont bind quite as well. Will give these a go and let you know how they pan out for me. :-)
