This is by far the best no-hazzle recipe for fluffy rice which I use, combining traditional mum-taught measures with easy tips to suit the busy life I've got.

This was the worst result I've ever had with making rice ... Ended up with a bowl of shriveled up, dry, crunchy, inedible rice. Had to throw it out and go without a starch at dinner last night ... I was trying to save time and focus my efforts on the other parts of the meal, but actually you can do basmati on the stovetop in 20 minutes with outstanding results. Lesson learned.

I have had this issue myself recently when I went to a friends place and tried to make rice in microwave. The culprit was the varying wattage. For her microwave I had to use for 1 cup rice 2 and a quarter cups of water and cooked for only 15 minutes. also check out more tips for perfect fluffy rice here http://www.kukskitchen.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/how-i-do-it-perfect-fluffy-rice-in.html.
