These mini French pastry swirls with soft cheese are a great cheat's canapé - quick, simple and stunning

Ingredients

  • 500g pack puff pastry
  • 100g soft goat's cheese
  • 200g roasted red peppers from a jar
  • 50g walnut piece

Method

  1. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Roll out the puff pastry to a large rectangle. Spread the goat’s cheese over the pastry. Roughly chop the peppers and walnut pieces, then sprinkle over the cheese. Roll up one edge of the pastry into the centre, then repeat with the opposite edge to meet in the middle. Cut into 20 slices, place on a baking tray and bake for 10-12 mins until golden.

Made these a few times, very quick and easy to do but can never get them as thin or neat as in the picture! Delicious though and always well received!

I made these using roasted peppers and stilton. Yummy. Lou...you can fill them with anything. I'm just doing some with leftover mincemeat and grated clementine zest!!

These sound really yummy, dont like goats cheese though... could i use Fetta?

How do you freeze these? Do you cook them and then freeze? And if so how do u suggest reheating. Or if u feeze them before cooking, do u cook from frozen and if so for how long. Any advice wouldbe great as I need some canapé ideas for a christening bit need stuff that I can do in advance and either just pop in oven or serve as is

Hi there,There is a blue star above the nutrition information which we place there whenever a recipe can be frozen. Unless otherwise stated this means the dish can be frozen once completed. In this case, you could also lay the palmiers out on a tray (this stops them sticking together) and freeze them, then gather them into a freezer bag. Lay them out again and cook from frozen. You will need to increase the cooking time so that they are golden brown when they come out of the oven.Thanks!
