Very Moorish Tasty Flapjacks

Ingredients

  • 250g of butter
  • 4 tbsp of golden syrup
  • 3 Double Twix bars
  • 350g of Oats
  • Oven dish 12cm by 12 cm, 5cm deep
  • Brown lining paper

Method

    1. Preheat the oven to 200C/gas 6 fan assisted
    2. Add the butter and syrup to a large saucepan on a very low heat, and leave to melt
    3. Weigh out the 350g oats and chop the Twix bars into small 1/2 inch chunks, Add the oats to the melted butter and syrup and mix well coating the oats, then add the Twix and give a quick mix
    4. Pour the mix into a lined oven dish approx 12cm by 12cm and 5cm deep, flatten down with a spoon and put into oven for approx 20 mins or until slighty brown on top
    5. Remove from oven and leave to cool for 10 mins, then carefully turn out onto a surface to cool completely, cut into bars and enjoy with a cuppa!

Yum these are really tasty! They make a nice change from the usual plain ones. Certainly kept my aunts and grandmother happy! Also very easy to make, definitely recommend this recipe.

For the recipe you can decide on how much Twix to add, the more the merrier I say although not so good if you are watching your weight! Also try with alternatives such as Mars, grated orange peel, brazil or walnuts nuts, rum n raisin, the choices are endless! You could always use low fat/salt butter if you want a healthier option.
