Method

  1. Heat a pan and add the seeds. Lightly toast on medium heat. When slightly brown, splash in tamari and toss seeds about. Pour out of the pan and reserve.

  2. Mix yogurt, mayo, mustard and parsley. Pour over veg and apples, toss through and season. Sprinkle over seeds and serve.

Delicious coleslaw recipe. The celeriac is a nice alternative. Very labour intensive though as I don't have a food processor. The quantities listed make quite a large amount so lessen it if it's only for 2 or 3

I thought 2 tbsp of the dijon mustard was way overpowering for the coleslaw and unfortunately so did my guests..

Really delicious! I particularly loved the taste of the dark soy sauce on the toasted seeds. I added a bit of coriander (because I love it!) and also used half the amount of mustard specified which turned out to be just right. This does make huge amounts of coleslaw so maybe half the amounts if there's only one or two people in the household.

This is a really good coleslaw, like another contributor said I find coleslaw labour intensive too but whizzed through my magimix in a few mins and voila, a lovely side dish to pork pies, picnic pies, tarts and quiche. Tamari is available in SAINSBURYS, if you can't find it use dark soy sauce insted.

I made this a few weeks ago for friends coming to lunch, I doubled the quantity thinking that I might have some left over for the next day or two !!! Not a chance, the whole lot went in one go and everybody wanted this recipe. I served it with Picnic Pie (on this site) cheeses, homemade chutney and crusty bread .... it was a big success ... thank you

I don't generally go much for coleslaw.....to labour intensive both to prepare and to eat. I whizzed this up in the food processor and couldn't get enough of it. It does make a massive heap, but undaunted I demolished it single-handedly in 2 days whilst feeling virtuous about the amount of: raw food, seed & nuts, vegetables I was eating :o)
