Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 500g beef mince
- 1 large onion chopped
- 3-4 garlic cloves finely chopped
- 2 * 400g chopped tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 1 tbsp Demerara sugar
- 1 tsp basil
- salt and pepper
Method
- STEP 1heat 1 tbsp olive in large non stick pan, brown mince and drain excess fat
- STEP 2remove mince from the pan, heat remaining oil, add onions and garlic soften for 3 minutes.
- STEP 3add mince to pan along with tomatoes, puree, sugar, basil, salt and pepper and mix well
- STEP 4bring to a simmer, cover and cook for 50 minutes or longer if you can
- STEP 5taste add more seasoning if it needs it serve with pasta, salad or jacket pot
