Gingerbread competition terms & conditions

All entries by post, email and online upload must be received by 5pm on 17 October 2021

Immediate Media Company London Limited (Vineyard House, 44 Brook Green, Hammersmith, London W6 7BT) is the Promoter of this competition. Children who live in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands can enter, unless someone who works for Immediate Media or one of the judges is a member of your family.

You must be between the ages of five and 12 years old on 17 October 2021 and have parent/guardian permission. We will ask for proof of your age, address and the agreement of your parent/guardian if you win.

You can send only one picture to be judged in the competition. We are looking for drawings that meet the following criteria:

  • Be a drawing of a gingerbread home, this could be a house or any other kind of living accommodation, perhaps a block of flats, a tent or an igloo? Why not make your home?
  • The drawn gingerbread home must be made of gingerbread pieces stuck together with icing, all decorations must be edible.
  • Must be original (not from TV, film or a book)

The entries will be judged on the following criteria: creativity, originality, style.

Entrants must supply to Immediate Media Company Limited their full name and parent’s email address. The Promoter will use entrants’ personal details in accordance with the Immediate Privacy Policy (

By entering this competition, you agree that you’ve read these rules and will follow them. The winning picture will be chosen by an independent judge.

The winner will receive a Kenwood K-Mix stand mixer, Model KMX754CR, colour ‘fresh cream’, RRP £249.

We can’t include pictures that arrive late and we can’t accept responsibility if your picture gets lost in the post. Once the judges have made their decision, we will contact the winner to inform them.

Only one entry will be permitted per person, regardless of method of entry. Bulk entries made by third parties will not be permitted.

The Promoter’s decision as to the winner is final and no correspondence relating to the promotion will be entered into.

The winner will be notified within seven days of the close of the promotion by email. If the winner doesn’t reply within seven days, can’t prove their age or address, or their parents don’t give permission for their picture to be used, we may have to move on to a runner-up.

There is no cash alternative and the prize will not be transferable. Prizes must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize with one of the same or greater value.

The surname and county of residence of the winner will be available by sending an SAE to: Competition Rules, BBC Good Food, Immediate Media Company, Vineyard House, 44 Brook Green, Hammersmith, London W6 7BT within two months of the closing date of the promotion. Immediate Media will contact the winner before releasing this information and provide them with the opportunity to object or limit the amount of information shared.

The Promoter reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions or to cancel, alter or amend the promotion at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside of its control.

We can’t return your pictures – we’re sorry, but we receive too many to send them back! We will make sure that the details you’ve written on your picture are kept confidential and destroyed when we no longer need them.

The Promoter excludes liability to the full extent permitted by law for any loss, damage or injury occurring to the participant arising from his or her entry into the promotion or occurring to the winner[s] arising from his or her acceptance of a prize.
If your picture is entered, you keep the copyright but grant BBC Good Food and all of the magazines, websites and other businesses run by Immediate Media Company, a free and unlimited licence to use, edit and reproduce your picture in our products and in marketing.

The promotion is subject to the laws of England.
