  • 115g plain flour
  • 55g grated strong cheese (cheddar is best)
  • 55g unsalted butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of freshly ground black pepper
  • A pinch of paprika (for those that like a little spice)

    1. Preheat oven to 180C.
    2. Blend the flour, cheese and butter in a food processor until it looks like fine crumbs.
    3. Add salt and pepper to taste, add paprika for an additional kick!
    4. Add the egg yolk to the food processor and mix until it forms a soft ball. You may need to add a little water to encourage the ball to form.
    5. Roll the mix on a lightly floured board to a thickness of 8mm and cut the biscuits.
    6. Place the biscuits on a non-stick tray and bake in the oven for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.

I have added chilli and they are fab! I did a batch with fried onion and they ere good too, I also did some with garlic and herbs also very tasty!! I must admit though I use double the quantity of cheese as I love cheese!!

Five stars! I used cheddar with scotch bonnet chillies and they're delicious. I don't know why I've not tried to make cheese biscuits before. Lovely light texture.

Sounds delish - going to try making them with wholemeal flour. I will be back to let you know how I got on

Delish and very easy.half an hour start to finish incl clearing up, and that with a little helper. Rubbed in butter and flour by hand and they had a light pastry texture. Used salted butter but omitted the pinch of salt. kept to basic recipe for kids but would like to try with chives.

Taste like, and have the same texture as Cheddars. Very yummy, and gave me a good excuse to use my foot cookie cutter. :)

We enjoyed baking these biscuits: they were very quick to prepare, and a great recipe for father and daughter to make for Sunday tea-time. The whole family loved them still warm from the oven.

Great, simple recipe. I added freshly ground black pepper and a little mustard powder for some warmth- yummy!

Very delicious. I added powdered mustard and cayenne pepper to the mix, instead of paprika, which worked really well.
