A Terry's chocolate orange cheesecake

  • For the base:
  • 16 hobnobs
  • 120g Unsalted butter
  • For the filling:
  • 200g Philadelphia cream cheese
  • 184ml of double cream
  • 100g Icing sugar
  • 225g Terry's chocolate orange


    1. Put the Hobnobs in a bowl and crush with the end of a rolling pin until the Hobnobs are like breadcrumbs.
    2. Melt the butter in a heatproof bowl for 30 seconds. Add the crushed hobnobs to the butter and mix well.
    3. Add the biscuit mix into a big glass dish or 3 small tins and leave in the fridge for 30-40 mins.
    4. Whisk the philadelphia and icing sugar together in a mixing bowl.
    5. In a separate mixing bowl use an electric whisk to whisk the double cream till it peaks.
    6. Melt 160g of the chocolate orange by putting it into a heatproof bowl and then into the microwave for 30 seconds.
    7. Stir the melted chocolate into the whipped cream and then add this to philadelphia and Icing and whisk.
    8. With rest of the chocolate orange grate on top of the mixture or place the segments in the middle.

Very good recipe. I used plain Digestives on the base not hobnobs I thought Hobnobs would be a bit too sweet. To decorate the cake I smashed the Chocolate Orange into bits and sprinkled on the edges in a ring with a few McVities Jaffa Cake Nibbles balls to decorate.

I changed this slightly and used Asda Extra Special Chocolate Orange. Haven't tasted the finished cake yet as it is for dinner at my friends tomorrow, will update with the verdict

Really love this recipe however I find there is a tiny bit to much of the filling compared to the base but that is if I was being picky. Would recommend this to anyone, it's really easy and one of my favourites

I've made this several times for dinner parties. It's simple to make and tastes delicious! Always get lots of compliments. Sometimes I use digestives which work well too.

Thank you for this fabulous recipe it was an absolute hit with the family... I did make some changes as I used the Cadburys Philadelphia cream cheese, 16 digestive biscuits and 12 segments of chocolate orange with drizzled double cream to taste (no icing sugar needed) and it turned out perfect! The families comments were... that despite the over load on the chocolate it wasn't too sweet and the best they'd ever tasted, bonus! Even though I'd adapted the ingredients to suit, the step by step instructions were the most important part of this recipe. They were so easy to follow making my first attempt at following this recipe a success. Tip... The orange segments melted great in the microwave. I put them all in a glass dish and microwaved for 30 seconds, followed by another 30 seconds then 20 seconds, stirring in-between. Depending on the power category of your microwave and how many segments you use, only microwave for short periods of time and keep checking and stirring and you'll know when they're ready. Thank you again :)

I liked it but it could be better. I thought the base was far too sweet. The Terry's orange did not melt in the microwave so I immersed the bowl in a pan of boiling hot water. I will make this again but I will substitute the Hobnobs for Digestives and use a light soft cheese as opposed to full fat one. I think if you use less melted chocolate and replace it with a crunched up Crunchy bar, you could bring this cheesecake to another level!

Can anyone suggest how to make the filling thicker ( more like cheesecake ) I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I need the filling more solid? Does anyone put in the freezer? If so how long for? Thanks

Love this recipe and always complimented on the cheesecake. Only thing I would say to improve is this, leave the melted chocolate to cool before adding to cream and the cheesecake will set better!
