Method

  • step 1

Dry off the rib-eye steaks using kitchen paper or a clean cloth. Brush with the oil, then season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

  • step 2

Heat the air fryer for 2 mins on 200C. Put the steaks in the basket and cook for 6 mins. Turn the steak and cook for a further 2 mins. At this point, your steak should be rare to medium rare. Cook for a further 2 mins for medium steaks, plus 2 mins more if you prefer them well-done.

  • step 3

Remove the steaks and put on a plate to rest for 3-4 mins. This is a perfect opportunity to make a sauce, if you like.

Recipe tips

Should I flip the steak part-way through cooking?

We suggest to flip the steak so that you can get an even cook on the steak.

Do I still need to rest the steak with air frying?

It’s still a good idea to rest your steak for a few minutes after cooking in your airfryer because it allows the juices time to redistribute and the muscle fibres to relax. This will mean your steak is consistently moist and more flavoursome throughout.

GF TIP

Allow your steak to come to room temperature before cooking. Bring it out of the fridge for 20-25 mins before cooking. This should ensure your steak is less tough and helps it cook evenly.

Cooked my steaks at 6 min plus 4 min. Came out just as I like them. A touch of pink.

I did sirloin of the same thickness and it came out medium-well after doing 6 and 3 mins. Would drop to 4 and 2 in future

Superb, particularly with home-made garlic butter placed on it for the final 3 minutes, frittes and Languedoc Rouge.

We don’t buy any red meat from Tesco as we find the Co-op red meat better quality. Maybe worth a try 👍🏻
