Ingredients
- 150g chopped dates
- 1tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1tsp vanilla essence
- 250ml boiling water
- 50g butter
- 150g brown sugar
- 200g self raising flour
- 1 egg
- SAUCE
- 50g butter
- 50g brown sugar
- 2tbsp cream
Method
- STEP 1Mix together the first 4 ingredients and leave to stand for 15 minutes
- STEP 2Mix together the next 4 ingredients and add the date mixture
- STEP 3Pour into a greased deep baking tray and cook for 40 minutes on 375f or 190c
- STEP 4Melt together the sauce ingredients, bring to the boil and simmer for 2 minutes
- STEP 5Serve over the pudding hot or cold
