Spaghetti and Meatballs

Ingredients
For the the meatballs:
- 500g of lean beef mince
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed or chopped
- Salt to season
- Pepper season
- 1 Egg
- Olive oil (1 tbsp)
- Basil (1 tsp)
For the Sauce:
- 1 Tin of chopped tomatoes
- Olive oil (1 tbsp)
- Balsamic vinegar (1 tbsp)
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed or chopped
- Salt season
- Pepper to season
- 1 small white onion, diced
- Oregano (Half tsp)
- Basil (Half tsp)
- Thyme (Half tsp)
- 1 red chilli (optional)
- 3 tbsp of tomato puree
To Serve:
- 3oz of spaghetti per person
Method
- STEP 1Add all of the above ingredients for the meatballs into a mixing bowl and using your hands, mix all of the ingredients together so equally distributed throughout the mince. You should be able to make around 14-16 meatballs.
- STEP 2Put the tin of chopped tomatoes into a blender along with all of the ingredients for the sauce except the onion. Blend for around 30 seconds until fully mixed.
- STEP 3Get a frying pan on a medium heat and cook the onions until soft. Add the meatballs and cook until the outer surfaces are light brown. Pour the sauce from the blender into the pan and make sure that the meatballs are covered and cook for 15-20 minutes on a medium heat.
- STEP 4For the spaghetti, fill a pan 3 quarters full of water and add a tsp of salt. Once the water is boiling, add 3oz of spaghetti per person and cook for 10 minutes.
- STEP 5Once everything is cooked, drain the spaghetti and divide between plates. Divide the meatballs between the plates and finally spoon over the remaining sauce.
