  1. Put a large pan of water on to boil. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry the sausage chunks on a fairly high heat until they are golden brown all over. Now turn the heat down and add the onion and garlic, cooking them until they have softened.

  2. Stir in the chilli powder and tomatoes with the sausages, bring the sauce to the boil then turn the heat down and let it bubble for about 10 minutes while you cook the pasta.

  3. Drop the pasta into the pan of boiling water and cook according to the pack instructions. Drain the pasta, then tip it into the frying pan with the sausage sauce, mixing well to coat. Dish up immediately with crusty bread.

Such a good recipe but I used frankfurter sausages the second time as that was all I had and it tasted even better!!!

Made this a number of times now. A great recipe for days when time isn't on your side. I fry the sausages whole, then cut them into chunks as I find it much easier than cutting up raw sausages. I use mild chilli powder because no-one likes spicy food in this house. Made it once using hot chilli powder and it nearly blew our heads off. Our toddler loves this which is an added bonus when looking for family meals to try.

I use scissors to cut the sausages, much easier! I add some minced chilli instead of the powder. This recipe freezes well - I'm not a meat eater and like to cook in bulk for the family.

I used kidney beans in a chilli sauce in mine, really tasty and flavoursome, not too spicy either!! mmmmmm!
