My Verison of a 1980's School Recipe from Home Economics class

  • 500g Mashed Potato
  • 2 tins Baked Beans
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Red Pepper
  • 250g mushrooms
  • 6 rashers Bacon
  • 6 sausages
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • Butter for mash
  • salt and pepper
  • Grated cheese (optional)


  1. Chop onions, mushrooms & pepper. Fry until golden brown in fry oil or vegetable oil (1 tbsp). Pour into a casserole dish with baked beans (straight from tin) and Worcestershire sauce.

  2. Grill sausages and bacon (healthier option) or fry in 1 (Tbsp) vegetable oil. Allow to cool and cut into 1 inch cubes and add to casserole dish.

  3. Peel potatoes, chop into 2inch cubes and boil for until soft. Mash with butter. Layer on top of bean bake mix and add grated cheese and seasoning. Bake in oven until hot and browned top.
