I am not a great cook - this needs saying first. I followed this exactly and struggled a bit. The dough when rolled out seemed to split and I think my grated cheese needed to be much finer and the pastry much drier (I'm guessing). I made some sticks but they kept breaking as I tried to lay them out so I reverted to using a round cutter. They took quite a while to cook. I've just tasted one and think they could do with a bit more salt for my liking. Overall I'd give it another go but I can't see how they would turn out like the illustration.

This was a tasty simple recipe to make. One thing though, I'd recommend leaving the cooked straws for a few minutes on the tray to crisp up before transferring onto a cooling rack.
