Delicious flapjacks just like your granny used to make :-)

  • 150g (6oz) Margarine
  • 100g (4oz) Demerara sugar
  • 20ml (1tbsp) Golden syrup
  • 200g (8oz) Porridge Oats


    1. Grease a baking tin of about 30x20cm (11"x7") and line with baking parchment
    2. Pre-heat oven to 180C or Gas Mark 4
    3. Melt the margarine, syrup and sugar in a hot pan
    4. Take off the heat and stir in the porridge oats
    5. Pour and spread evenly into the baking tin for 20mins (or until golden) at 180C/Gas Mark 4

My husband wanted flapjacks just like he ate as a boy- chewy and toffeeish. I cooked the flapjack a bit longer (30mins) than suggested and end result was just what he wanted! Thank you.

Tried this recipe for a wonderful mother's day indulgence tomorrow, and I tested a flapjack, and oh my! Perfectly sweet and chewy. I felt guilty eating it. I'm vegan, so I used soy margarine instead. And I used honey instead of syrup. Recipe was without a flaw.

At long last, a fabulous, chewy flapjack recipe that is so easy to make (yay, no more bricks!) I added a sprinkle of coconut to the mix and it was delicious.

Best flapjack recipe ever. Chewy, moist and a good balance between butter and syrup. Added some sultanas as well. Won't use any other flapjack recipe from now on!

My only gripe would be that there was not enough mixture to completely fill the tin! Very quick, very easy and a great snack for the lunch box. A recipe a shall be doing again for sure.

After years of searching, I've finally found a great flapjack recipe. Neither too sticky nor too doughy. Better than lots of 'cheffy' recipes

So quick and easy!! The look of horror came across my families faces when I said I had made flapjack - it usually resembles a brick! But not now!! YUM!!

the only recipe that i could find which was easy and simple to make, they turned out good :D
