This sweet beetroot chutney recipe was handed down through our family and eventually landed with me! Everyone loves it!

  • 1.5 lb of beetroot
  • 0.5 lb apples
  • 0.5 lb sugar
  • 0.5lb onions
  • 0.5 pint vinegar
  • 0.25 tsp ginger
  • 0.5 tsp mustard seeds.


  1. cook and dice beetroot, peel, chop and dice apples and onions

  2. put all ingredients except for beetroot into large pan and boil until tender,

  3. add beetroot and boil for further 10 minutes.
