simple tasty bolognaise

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 3-4 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 2 * 400g chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp Demerara sugar
  • 1 tsp basil
  • salt and pepper


    1. heat 1 tbsp olive in large non stick pan, brown mince and drain excess fat
    2. remove mince from the pan, heat remaining oil, add onions and garlic soften for 3 minutes.
    3. add mince to pan along with tomatoes, puree, sugar, basil, salt and pepper and mix well
    4. bring to a simmer, cover and cook for 50 minutes or longer if you can
    5. taste add more seasoning if it needs it serve with pasta, salad or jacket pot

Very tasty. This is now my go to bolognese. Tastes much the same as other recipes but without all the extra nonsense.
