For inside the cake:

  • 10oz Butter
  • 10oz Caster Sugar
  • 9 2/3oz Self raising Flour
  • 1/3oz Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 5 eggs

Method

  • step 1

    Preheat the oven to 180C (fan oven), and then grease 3 20cm baking tins.
  • step 2

    Cream together the butter and sugar using an electric whisk (for about 1 1/2 minutes) , and then gradually add in the eggs (bit by bit.)
  • step 3

    Sift in the flour and Cocoa powder, and fold in for best results. Then use the electric whisk again for another minute just to put the air back into it. If the mixture is a little stiff, then add in a tbsp of milk.
  • step 4

    Separate the mixture into three baking tins, and smooth the top. Then put the tins into the oven and cook for about 25-30mintues (constantly check on the cake, throughout the 30 minutes, though!) Remove the cake out of the oven, and leave to cool on a drying rack. Then, decorate in any way you would like (I recommend chocolate buttercream in-between the cakes) and Enjoy!
