This dish is ridiculously easy to cook and is absolutely bursting with a rich, cheesy taste. It's also very, very filling!

  • 500g ready-made shortcrust pastry
  • 250g mature Cheddar cheese
  • 145ml whole milk
  • 3 eggs
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning


    1. Preheat the oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7. Grease an oven-proof dish. Roll out the pastry on a floured surface, and line the dish with the pastry.
    2. Beat the eggs and milk together in a medium-sized bowl, and season to taste. Pour the mixture into the pastry.
    3. Grate the cheese and add it to the mixture, being sure to spread the cheese evenly.
    4. Cook on the middle shelf of the oven for 30 minutes or until the cheese on top is golden brown. Serve.

The recipes ingredients work but the quantities are way off, as presented its more like a hard lump of pastry and cheese rather than a light quiche. I made it with 300g pastry, 200g cheese, 6 eggs and 250ml milk.and it turned out great.

Nice easy to make recipe. A little too cheesy for my own personal taste. Will use less cheese next time.

I was reluctant to try this recipe out as there was no previous comments or ratings which is what I usually go by when selecting recipes on here. However, I was unable to find another similar recipe so decided to give it a go and didn't regret it. This is an extremely easy and quick recipe to make a tasty and filling meal. I used a little dry basil when seasoning and added a dash of cream to the milk before beating with the eggs. It tasted fab and will definitely be making again!
