Mushrooms in a creamy stilton and garlic sauce.

  • 350g closed cup mushrooms, halved or quartered if large
  • 100g stilton cheese
  • 2 lge garlic cloves, crushed
  • 50g butter
  • 100-150ml double cream
  • salt and pepper
  • crusty bread to serve


    1. Preheat the oven to 190c/gas 5.
    2. Fry mushrooms and garlic in the butter, stirring until beginning to soften.
    3. Gradually add the cream and boil gently for 2-4 mins until starting to thicken.
    4. Season with salt & pepper to taste, and divide the mixture between two individually sized ovenproof dishes.
    5. Crumble stilton over the top of each dish, and place in the oven for approx 10-15 mins until the stillton is melted and bubbling.
    6. Serve with chunks of crusty bread.

I have just made this for my valentines starter for me and my hubby and it was really yummy! I normally favour this starter when out for meals but now I think I will judge all other dishes of this! :) so easy and quick to make.

This recipe is great, a very tasty dish! I also added some chicken stock whilst still in the pan and it was delicious!
