An extremely easy to make, healthy wholemeal brown bread recipe.

  • 1 1/2 lbs wholemeal flour
  • 2 heaped teaspoons of bread/bicarbonate of soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 pint buttermilk


    1. Preheat the oven to 200C/fan 190C.
    2. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.
    3. Divide the mixture between 2 loaf tins and level the tops.
    4. Place in the oven for 50 minutes.
    5. Once cooked, remove from the tins immediately and wrap in a clean tea towel to prevent the crust getting too hard.
