• Whole Chicken. (remove skin)-1

Marinade for the chicken

  • Curd -1/2 cup
  • Ginger paste-1tbs
  • Garlic paste-1tbs
  • Salt-to taste
  • Pepper-1/2tsp
  • Lemon juice-2tbs
  • Chilly powder-1/2tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
  • Garam masala1-1tsp

For the stuffing

  • Chopped onions -3
  • Chopped green chilly 1 or 2
  • Chopped ginger -1tbs
  • Chopped garlic-1tbs
  • Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
  • Red chilly powder-1/2tsp
  • Coriander leaves -1/2cup
  • Boiled egg-1
  • Nuts n raisins fried-10


  • STEP 1
    Clean chicken thoroughly with water and vinegar all over the chicken both inside and outside to remove the smell.make small cuts on the chicken on the breast and thighs for the masala to coat well all over the chicken.

    in a small bowl add curd,ginger garlic paste ,salt,lemon juice,pepper,garam masala,red chilly powder,turmeric powder and water to make a smooth paste.Apply this paste all over the chicken both inside and outside.Cover it with a cling film and refrigerate for atleast 3 hrs.

    After 3 hours Take the chicken out from the fridge.put the chicken in the pressure cooker cover it with lid and cook it until you get a whistle .after one whistle switch off the flame let it cool.take out the chicken outside and fill the stuffing inside the chicken.

    How to Prepare stuffing

    Heat oil in a pan.add the chopped onions and sauté well.add ginger garlic chopped,green chilly chopped,turmeric powder,red chilly powder,and sauté again until every thing is cooked well.add garam masala,and coriander leaves .add the boiled egg and fry for few more minutes.Switch off the heat and keep this aside..add fried nuts and raisins.and keep the boiled egg,sautéed onion masala ,nuts n raisins inside the chicken and tie it with a thread.

    Frying the chicken :

    Heat a big pan and add oil into it.Place the chicken gently into the pan .
  • STEP 8
    Fry the chicken,until all the four sides are in golden brown color.then pour one or two scoops of prepared stuffing masala (onion,nuts n raisins)over the chicken.and keep in a low flame for 2 or 3 minutes until the masala coats all over the chicken.
  • STEP 9
    In a flat plate arrange some lettuce leaves,onions,tomatoes ,lemon wedges and keep the chicken in the centre.roll a cling film on both legs of the kozhi nirachathu is ready to serve.
