  1. Heat oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7. Heat the olive oil, then fry the onion and garlic until softened, about 5 mins. Season the passata with a pinch of sugar, salt and pepper.

  2. Put the pizza base onto a baking sheet and spread over the passata, leaving a border around the edge. Top with the onions, sausages and, finally, the cheese. Cook in the oven for 10 mins until crisp. Scatter with basil, if using.

Have made this a couple of times - a very tasty quick and tasty recipe. Need good sausages to make it work well.

As others have suggested, a spicy sausage is good - I used pork and chilli (baked in the oven until firm enough to slice). Basicaly this recipe is an idea - add whatever you like to make your family favourite.

Quick, easy and yummy. Will make again. I added some chopped chillis and also part sundried tomato paste to the passata. There was a lot of red onion, I love onion but others may not be so keen on so much.

Excellet - my family love this pizza! I make it over and over again for them...they prefer a hot Italian sausage.
