  1. Heat a tablespoon of the oil in a large non-stick frying pan. Add the liver and stir fry over a moderately high heat for 3 minutes until light brown – don’t cook for longer or the liver will become rubbery. Remove to a plate, leaving the juices in the pan.

  2. Tip the leek, red pepper and chilli into the pan with the rest of the oil and stir fry over a high heat for 2 minutes. Add the oregano, garlic and greens and stir fry for a further 30 seconds or so, until the greens have just wilted and turned a nice bright green.

  3. Return the liver to the pan, add the orange zest and juice, sherry, then season. Toss everything together on a high heat and serve immediately.

Tasty, but doesn't beat your traditional fried liver, bacon, onions & mushrooms with mash & gravy! Swapped the spinach for chard, as that's what I had available in the garden & served with courgette fritters which soaked up the sauce nicely. If I made it again, I'd add some cornflour to the sauce just to thicken it a little.

Survived the whole idea of - liver - rather well! This was quite nice but orange rather over-powering. Made double to serve family, replacing leek with red onion and spring greens with spinach as suggested. Very healthy and cheap, but nothing to get excited about.

Had no leeks or spring greens so used red onion and curly kale instead, also threw in some mushrooms. Absolutely delicious.

I really wanted to like this because I don't like liver much but it's so cheap and there's 7 of us so I was really keen to enjoy it. It smells amazing when you cook it but I'm sorry to say that all of us thought it was revolting! My husband loves liver usually but it just didn't work for us! If you don't like liver, this won't change your mind. However if you do, based on how cheap it is and the 'left overs' element to it it's worth a shot. I won't be making it again though!

This is a real winner. A good recipe to try on those who say they don't like liver. Very flavoursome and nutritious. I am not a fan of spring greens but have enjoyed them in this recipe. I have also used spinach which I personally prefer.

Followed recipe to the letter but found it strangely lacking in flavour. Disappointing considering the nice ingredients that went in.

What a fantastic recipe for liver. I actually prefer ox liver and I love adding English Baby Spinach. Really yummy!

This receipe was so quick and easy and very delicious, even my picky husband love it! - next time I would use less chilli though,, or leave it out all together because it was a little hot.. And liver is so cheap - def a credit crunch supper
