Make a tasty, healthy chocolate pudding in just five minutes. It's low-calorie and vegan, too, and the chia seeds are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids

  • 60g chia seeds
  • 400ml unsweetened almond milk or hazelnut milk
  • 3 tbsp cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • cacao nibs, mixed
  • frozen berries, to serve


  1. Put all the ingredients in a large bowl with a generous pinch of sea salt and whisk to combine. Cover with cling film then leave to thicken in the fridge for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

  2. Spoon the pudding into four glasses, then top with the frozen berries and cacao nibs.

Very tasty indeed! I highly recommend this if you love chocolate because it tastes more chocolaty than chocolate!

Oh dear. I was so excited by the prospect of a healthy chocolatey pudding. I had all the ingredients already in my cupboard. Let's just say that it looked very much like the picture but the taste..... truly awful. Very bitter. Big thumbs down from every single member of the family.

Mine had zero bitterness. In my opinion, any bitterness could come from: a)if chia seeds are not fresh b)too much vanilla extract c)if you omit maple syrup d)too much of cacao nibs, perhaps?
