Method

  1. Whizz apricots with dates and cherries in a food processor until very finely chopped. Tip into a bowl and use your hands to work in coconut oil. Shape the mix into walnut-sized balls, then roll in sesame seeds. Store in an airtight container until you need a quick energy fix.

Can't wait to make these again, certainly went down well. I double the in ingredients. This recipe reminded me of chocolate truffles even though there was no addition. I made a few changes due to lack of dates and sesame seeds in my store cupboard. Organic dried Turkish Apricot are not to sweet would recommend, used figs with a small quantity of dates and replaced sesame seed with desiccated coconut just perfect. Next time will try cacao powder for a change to dessicated coconut.

my son has a nut allergy can regular oil be used instead of coconut oil, or what would be best??

Just made these for my children, 18mths & 3yrs. My son helped to make them, (he generally turns his nose up at fruit in any form except for stewed in porridge) and I called them treats & he ate one and enjoyed it. I made about 12 from the above measurements and they will be a handy healthy alternative to keep in the cupboard. My daughter loves all fruit so scoffed this down unsurprisingly. I didn't use any oil or honey. Threw in a tbsp on chopped nuts & a tsp of cocoa powder. Yum.

I used cranberries rolled in cinnamon, dates, a tbsp of cocoa powder and a small amount of honey to bind, and then rolled in dessicated coconut. Very yummy indeed.

Fantastic high energy snack. so versatile. I used cranberries instead of cherries and added nuts, didn't need the oil and covered in coconut. Fab!

I only used dates, almonds and toasted chia seeds. It came out great, I guess you can use whatever you have in your cupboard.

I don't know if I can fairly rate this recipe as I changed it so much! I used prunes and dates because that's what I had at home, I then added 1 tbsp of cocoa powder while whizzing the dried fruit, and then I rolled the whole thing in more cocoa powder and it was LOVELY, like a lovely fruity healthy chocolate truffle! made me very happy :)

not freezable by the looks of things but how long do you think you can keep these for in air tight container?
