Quick and easy rice, goes great with any curry, spice how you want!

  • half an onion chopped
  • approx 1 oz butter
  • 2 teacups bamati rice (tilda works well)
  • 3 and a half teacups boiling water
  • half a tsp salt
  • stock cube (veg works well)
  • (medium ovenable frying pan with lid if not use foil)
  • Pre-heat the oven to gas 4


    1. Fry the onions in the pan with the butter until clear and soft.
    2. Stir in the rice.
    3. Add the water, salt and crumble in the stockcube.
    4. Do not over stir or the rice will release starch and it will become sticky.
    5. Cover and put in the oven for 20 mins.
