  • 4 pork chops, about 175g/6oz each
  • 100-140g stilton or other blue cheese such as bleu d'Auvergne or Danish Blue

  • 4 rounded tbsp apple sauce
  • mashed potato and green veg, to serve


  1. Turn on the grill. Season the chops on both sides with a good sprinkling of salt and pepper. Grill under a moderate heat for 12-16 minutes, turning once, until just cooked.

  2. Add the topping. Thinly slice the cheese (don’t worry if it breaks up a bit). Spoon the apple sauce over the chops and top each one with a couple of slices of cheese. Slide back under the grill for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and tinged brown. Serve with mashed potatoes and a green veg such as leeks or broccoli, and with any melted cheesy bits from the bottom of the pan.

This is so quick and simple that it has become a regular meal in our house. The kids aren’t keen so they just have their pork plain and everyone is happy

I've made this a few times now and it has never failed to please! It is so easy and delicious and great for a mid-week dinner.

Absolutely lovely! My entire family loved this, even though they aren't usually fans of blue cheese! The only thing I'd say is to make sure the ratio of cheese to apple sauce is done to your own tastes, because it's easy for one ingredient to overpower the other

This is a great recipe. I have made this dish numerous times, it is so nice and very easy for a quick dinner. I find a good strong stilton works best.

Not sure what I did wrong but the cheese melted and ran off the chops mostly. It was still delicious however as I just scraped the cheese off the baking tray and placed it back on the chops. I might try mixing the topping together with some breadcrumbs next time to see if it stays put next time.
