If you’re looking to take your first steps towards reaching your health goals this January, Superdrug’s Weight Loss Service offers face-to-face support to help you get started.
Provided through the brand’s specialist Health Clinics teams, the service is led by trained nurses and pharmacists who can provide personalised guidance that’s tailored to your needs.
When you book an appointment, you’ll be asked for your BMI measurements, which you can work out using the NHS online calculator.
After that, you’ll attend an initial consultation, where the nurse or pharmacist will assess your needs, complete a health questionnaire and take your measurements, BMI and blood pressure. They’ll also discuss your weight loss goals and medical history with you and offer advice.
Your weight loss journey should always include a healthy diet and exercise, where possible. According to the NHS, adults aged 19-64 should aim to do some form of physical activity every day, including:
• Strengthening activities that work all the major muscle groups (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms) on at least two days per week.
• At least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity a week.
• Reducing time spent sitting or lying down and breaking up long periods of not moving with some sort of activity.
Superdrug also offers a range of other options to support your healthy journey – from a Vitamin B12 service to Superdrug Video GP, which offers access to doctors, dietitians, physiotherapists and counsellors.
