Did this with sliced oranges and just the one tbsp of sugar. It was lovely to stand outside with on a cold night to watch the fireworks.

Amazing flavour, doesn't really taste like cider, just a lovely warm drink!

Ha ha, I read this title as Hot Spider Cider :) What would you need to add, cobwebs? Good for Halloween though.

This is a gorgeous warming drink. Made for our little fireworks display a few weeks ago and it went down a treat with my friends. There was a bit left in the pan so we re-heated it the next night and it was even better after it had had a day to really absorb the spices. Missed out the allspice berries as I couldn't find them in the supermarket

allspice is also known as Pimento, if that helps =) I spent ages looking for allspice berries, and when i found them and gave them a sniff i realized it was pimento! Lovely drink, I added some apple and orange slices, and a splash of apple juice to intensify the flavours

Used spiced rum instead of dark, as that's all we had. Think dark rum would have had more flavour. Also added some butter, a few large knobs, as I saw a twist on this recipe called buttered hot cider. That together with slices from a small orange, worked very well.
