Ingredients

  • 12 cardamom pod
  • 6 tbsp Seville orange marmalade, plus more to serve
  • 400ml vodka

    Vodka

    vod-ka

Originally associated with Russia, Slavonic, Baltic and Scandinavian countries, vodka has become…

  • 125ml Cointreau
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • ice, to serve

Method

  1. Bash 6 cardamom pods in a pestle and mortar until they split.

  2. Melt the marmalade in a pan, then whisk in the vodka. Add the crushed pods. Don’t boil the mix, simply warm it for a few mins. Leave to infuse off the heat for 20 mins, then strain.

  3. Add the Cointreau and lemon juice and chill (or keep in the freezer). Serve in glasses with a little more marmalade in the bottom, ice and a cardamom pod floating on top.

I think gin would work as well as vodka in these. Making them this weekend for a party, will update when I know how they go!

This looks great, but I need to mix drinks for a group including someone who's allergic to vodka. Any suggestions for a substitution?

Yum yum! They needed more cardamom in my opinion and had a lovely kick!

the combo of Seville orange and cardamom is really special, made this for a Christmas party, an instant winner, but on the strong side.
