Method

  1. Heat oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7. Heat the olive oil, then fry the onion and garlic until softened, about 5 mins. Season the passata with a pinch of sugar, salt and pepper.
  2. Put the pizza base onto a baking sheet and spread over the passata, leaving a border around the edge. Top with the onions, sausages and, finally, the cheese. Cook in the oven for 10 mins until crisp. Scatter with basil, if using.

Tip

If you can't find passata, empty a 400g can chopped tomatoes into a blender and whizz into a sauce.

This pizza was very quick and easy to prepare, and the sausages gave it a great flavour. Next time I make it, I might add some oregano or other dried herbs, and sliced red chilli to spice it up.

    Quick, easy and yummy. Will make again. I added some chopped chillis and also part sundried tomato paste to the passata. There was a lot of red onion, I love onion but others may not be so keen on so much.

    As others have suggested, a spicy sausage is good - I used pork and chilli (baked in the oven until firm enough to slice). Basicaly this recipe is an idea - add whatever you like to make your family favourite.
