How to make roast potatoes even better
Base for each recipe
- Chop up 1kg roast potatoes into large chunks and boil in a pan of water for 15 mins
- Drain and steam dry the potatoes then gently shake the pan to fluff them
- Place the potatoes onto a baking tray and drizzle with 2 tbsp sunflower oil
- Season with salt and pepper
1. Smoky roasties
- Sprinkle 2 tsp smoked paprika and 1tsp chilli flakes over the potatoes
- Toss them slightly to distribute the spices
2. Stuffing roasties
- Sprinkle over 30g dried stuffing
- Toss potatoes slightly to distribute the spices
- Place 10 mini sausages among them
3. Curried roasties
- Sprinkle over 1tbsp curry powder and 1tsp nigella seeds
- Toss potatoes slightly to distribute the spices
4. Herby roasties
- Peel and throw in 3 garlic cloves amongst the potatoes
- Sprinkle over the leaves from a handful of rosemary, thyme and sage
Roast the potatoes
- Bake in the oven (200C/180C fan/gas 6) for 1hr 10mins
