Method

  • step 1

    Mix the soy sauce, sherry, sugar and 2 tbsp water in a small bowl. Heat the oil in a large frying pan or wok, add the onion and beef, then stir-fry quickly until the beef is lightly browned. Tip out onto a plate.

  • step 2

    Add the broccoli and cashews to the pan, stir-fry for 1 min, then add the soy mixture. Bring to the boil, then cover and simmer for 5 mins until the broccoli is just tender.

  • step 3

    Tip the beef and onion back into the pan and heat through briefly before serving with noodles or rice.

Very average. The sauce wasn’t very exciting... I’ve had much nicer stir fry sauces from this website. Was tasty enough but I probably wouldn’t bother making again as per the recipe.

Not overwhelmed by this, I substituted masala for the sherry and added red chilli, but still felt like it needed more 'punch' - garlic, ginger & lime probably neeeded.

After embelishing the sauce (with honey, ginger, garlic, chilli flakes and a dash of oyster sauce) and adding a few bits of red pepper for colour this made a very enjoyable beef stirfry

A great quick meal and tasty, took advise and doubled up on the sauce quantity, also added mushrooms. Loved the cashews with the beef. Will definatly make this again.
