  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard


  1. Make 3 slashes on each of the drumsticks. Mix together the soy, honey, oil, tomato purée and mustard. Pour this mixture over the chicken and coat thoroughly. Leave to marinate for 30 mins at room temperature or overnight in the fridge. Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6.

  2. Tip the chicken into a shallow roasting tray and cook for 35 mins, turning occasionally, until the chicken is tender and glistening with the marinade.

Doesn't look like the picture although I doubled the sauce. Still tasted good though.

So Easy, with store cupboard ingredients! Added a little chilli and garlic to the marinade and salt and pepper once cooked and served with corn on the cob and sweet potato fries. Everyone loved it. Will definitely do it again and will try with pork. It wasn't sticky, but tasty anyway.

An incredible easy marinade to make with store cupboard ingredients. Always a hit with everyone, I use it for chicken, pork or the favourite is chipolata sausages. The oven does need to be hot to give a sticky coating.

Looks nothing like the photo, was watery. I doubled the soya sauce and honey and left out the oil. I also added chill powder, garlic and onion granules. It was tasty but nothing to talk about.

We love this so much in our house; quick and easy family dinner with jackets or wedges and salad. Loses a star as it isn't really 'sticky'; we call them 'tasty chicken drumstix' in our house. I do put the oil in but I think it would be fine without it. Maybe I'll try that next time!

Definitely don't add the oil! Its a very runny mixture - I added extra honey and also some sesame seeds for an added bit of texture. Once I removed from the oven I also placed into a hot pan for one minute on both sides just to add a little crisp and I'm glad I did Went down a storm and my family loved it! Great recipe just forget the oil!

Made these last night with a mixture of thighs and drumsticks. I too used wholegrain mustard as I prefer this t dijon. From reading the other reviews I will leave out the oil next time, as Didn't really add anything to the recipe. All in all quite a nice recipe and far cheaper than buying shop bought marinade.

Easy to make, tastes great, I left out the oil as I did not think it would add anything to the recipe. Kids loved it.

Forgot to "slash" the chicken drumsticks but the of the marinade was good and strong despite using half x light soy sauce and half x soy sauce.

Would advise tasting as you mix and tweaking the basic ingredients-am i the only one whose mouth was on fire with a tablespoon of Dijon!!!!!? Found it to be too oily and watery with only a teaspoon of tomato puree......swop the two quantities around however and you're getting somewhere........ (i did wonder if it was a mistake?) try a bit of extra soy sauce if too sweet. The second time i made it i added a teaspoon of garlic granules and mmmmmmmmm.............
