Giovanna Solimando
Based in Northern California, Giovanna Solimando was born and raised in Puglia, in the Northern area known as Capitanata or Daunia, at the foothills of the Gargano peninsula. She is a food writer, editor, and translator with a background in publishing, the culinary arts, and sustainable gardening. Over the years, she has written, edited, and photographed food and garden content for select publications and her own platform, developing approachable recipes and stories rooted in seasonality and regional Italian flavors. Her writing explores the ways food carries memories and traditions, drawing on her Pugliese heritage and her life between Italy and California. She began her publishing career in Oxford, England, working in editorial and project management roles for academic publishers, before moving into freelance editorial and translation work. Alongside her work in publishing and food writing, she ran a micro-bakery, baked at a Bib Gourmand restaurant, completed a kitchen placement at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, and volunteered on organic farms in Spain, experiences that continue to shape the way she cooks and grows.
