  • 1 small garlic clove, crushed

Method

  1. Grate the courgettes on the coarse side of your grater.

  2. Toss them with the olive oil, lemon or lime juice, clear honey, poppy seeds and the crushed garlic clove. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve as soon as possible (or it will get too watery), with sizzling barbecued chicken or lamb, kebabs or burgers.

I don't have these supermarkets close by. I would love the choice. There are some local independent suppliers with quality products, at a price, and I use them occasionally.The Co-op has a bit of a monopoly, I guess that I am not allowed to say that?
I love cooking and your recipes but get continually sent off in different directions, 0 found, or onto the never ending "Register for our recipes" all of them great, I am sure. Will you sign me up to do a market research project on this? I nicked the idea from a friend after having it at theirs and it went down a treat with my friends too. Added an extra large garlic clove for a bit more punch, but that's personal taste! Wasn't really around long enough to get watery, it was the last thing I made before serving.

Lovely fresh salad. I used lemon and served it with a Greek roast leg of lamb. Delicious combination.

Used sesame seeds instead of poppy seeds and it worked well. Love this dish after trying it at a friend's house, but it's a shame that it goes so watery. Will definitely try a reader's tip from below about getting rid of the excess water.

Very simple and yet yummy. A bit too sweet though. Will put mire lemon and less honey the next time. Didn't put poppy seed though. Good dish to use up the zucchinis. Will definitely make again

I've made this a few times as it's a simple, tasty side dish for barbequed meat or chicken. Yes, you are left with a water in the bottom of the bowl, but we pile it onto our plates straight away and there's never any leftover! A delicious way to use up courgettes.

I just love this zingy side dish. I prefer using lime as the flavours seem to come through more & black onion seeds. I didn't add any seasoning (which is very unlike me!). You definitely need to squeeze as much water out of the courgette as possible after grating it. Last night we had it with GF's Ginger & Lime Chicken & sweet potato mash. Very yummy & light.

I did this tonight to go along-side the steamed thai fish recipe also on this website. The flavours worked really well together. I only used 1 courgette as after grating it I felt like that was plenty. I also only used 1 tbsp of oil and I still felt that the oil flavour was quite over-powering. Sadly it did go incredibly watery after minutes of making it so next time I will try to squeeze the liquid from the courgettes before-hand. It still tasted nice so I will make it again but I will probably tweak the recipe a bit so as to make it more to my familys liking

Great light summery salad when you have a glutt of courgettes. But even one good sized courgette makes a lovely side dish for 2 people. I make it just before sitting down to dinner (have everything prepared before hand - except courgette). It doesn't go watery and soggy otherwise..... but so delicious!!

We really did not like this recipe at all. We found the combination of flavours very strange and not at all pleasant.

Try grating your coourgette put them in a colander over bowl sprinkle with salt and leave for 30 to 40 min then squeeze out any liquid with your hands then follow the recipe this stop the early on set of mushyness in the end dish

Lovely. I didn't have any poppy seeds but used sesame seeds and a few pine nuts instead. A really lovely way of using courgettes. Looking forward to trying it with poppy seeds too.

I made this for a gathering of family and friends and it was so popular that it's now a regular accompaniment to salads. Delicious.

Quick and easy, I used sesame oil, black onion seeds and lime juice, delicious! In order to avoid what could potentially become a watery mush I left the core.
